Renesas Electronics Introduces Optical Transmission and Wired Network Synchronizers and Jitter Atten

Renesas Electronics introduces its second-generation ClockMatrix product family of network synchronizers and jitter attenuators for optical transmission and wired networks.
The new ClockMatrix2 provides a single-chip network synchronizer and jitter attenuator with ultra-low jitter clock outputs, while supporting all IEEE1588 operation modes.

December 15, 2021, Tokyo, Japan - Renesas Electronics Corporation (TSE: 6723), a global semiconductor solutions provider, today announced the launch of its ClockMatrix2 high-performance, multi-channel, precision clock products for 400/800Gbps optical transmission and wired networks. Building on the ClockMatrix product introduced in 2019 for 5G wireless and 100/200Gbps wired networks, the new second-generation product further enhances performance with phase jitter as low as 88fs-rms.
The highly integrated product provides all the functionality needed for deploying IEEE1588 clock solutions and has jitter attenuation capabilities. It can provide ultra-low jitter clock outputs for synchronous Ethernet PHYs with data rates up to 112Gbps PAM-4, reducing design complexity and saving on the bill of materials (BOM), while also enabling customers to apply clock products to various network applications.
Bobby Matinpour, Vice President of Renesas' Clock Products Business Unit, said, "The 5G upgrade pushes the limits of network speed and precision, raising the standards for clock jitter and synchronization capabilities. The new ClockMatrix2 offers advantages such as low jitter, high precision, and extensive synchronization features in a highly integrated single-chip solution."

Highly integrated 6-channel precision clock source, eliminating the need for additional high-speed interface jitter attenuators
88fs-rms phase jitter on clock outputs, delivering ultra-low jitter clocks to support high-speed serial links (up to 112Gbps PAM-4 PHY)
Supports a variety of standards and protocols, including Synchronous Ethernet (Sync-E) and IEEE1588
Complies with G.8262.1 and G.8262 telecom boundary clock requirements, as well as G.8273.2 Class C and D time precision
When combined with other complementary and seamlessly integrated analog and power products, the ClockMatrix2 system synchronizer creates a "successful product suite" for various applications, such as 200G / 400G / 800G fixed form factor switch solutions. Renesas has already launched over 250 "successful product suites" for various applications and end products.
