China, December 9, 2021 – Ams OSRAM, a global leader in optical solutions, is set to launch the brightest automotive front lighting LED currently available on the market. Ams OSRAM, a market leader in the automotive LED domain, is now sending another strong signal to the industry with the Oslon Black Flat X series. This metal-based product offers market-leading brightness, specifically developed for use in automotive low and high beam solutions.

As new technology continues to advance, automotive lighting is becoming increasingly diverse, and the further development of LED technology opens up new possibilities. Occupying minimal installation space while providing excellent brightness, LED technology allows manufacturers more flexibility in designing lighting solutions. This product supports surface mounting and can be manufactured directly using standard production processes of manufacturers. In addition to having market-leading brightness (up to 460 lumens at 1 A), the single chip model is extremely compact, measuring only 3.75 mm X 3.75 mm. The OBF X uses a special QFN platform design, allowing customers to achieve simple thermal management. Depending on the system used, the size of the heat sink can be significantly reduced, or even eliminated altogether. The Oslon Black Flat X series features a metal frame structure that achieves a lower thermal resistance (Rth) than the commonly used ceramic packages on the market today. Coupled with a special TiO2 encapsulation coating, the LED's black packaging provides a high contrast ratio of 1:200. Moreover, the series offers very uniform color from different viewing angles.


The Oslon Black Flat X series will currently offer single and dual chip models. By mid-2022, several multi-chip models will be added.
