STMicroelectronics LED TV 200W Digital Power Solution Meets Stringent Eco-Design Standards
China, September 3, 2021 - STMicroelectronics' STEVAL-NRG011TV evaluation board helps designers quickly develop 200W digital power supplies and adapters for LED and OLED TVs that meet stringent regulatory requirements for energy efficiency and standby power consumption.

STEVAL-NRG011TV is based on STMicroelectronics' STNRG011 digital PFC (Power Factor Corrector) and resonant LLC (Low-Loss Converter) power converter, using a proven and reliable topology that can be configured and optimized for excellent power supply performance. The digital control algorithm is permanently fixed in the ROM memory of the power controller, eliminating the need for writing code. The evaluation board has a complete set of sampling parameters stored in the programmable non-volatile memory (NVM) on the circuit board.

STEVAL-NRG011TV provides a stable power supply of 12V/4A for the TV controller and audio subsystem, and 65V/2.5A for the LED backlight. The wide AC input voltage range of 90V to 264V allows the circuit board to be used in power supplies and adapters sold worldwide. Its energy efficiency exceeds today's stringent eco-design specifications, with full load efficiency exceeding 91% and standby power consumption below 120mW at 115V and 230V AC.

As the main chip on the circuit board, the STNRG011 provides a high-integration solution for designing efficient power converters with power factor correction. The chip integrates an 8-bit CPU subsystem, control logic (including PFC and LLC event-driven state machine (SMED)), ADC (Analog-to-Digital Converter), high-voltage start-up circuit, power management, and protection module. A two-wire interface handles communication between the chip and external EEPROM memory, as well as remote monitoring and software updates. The device is available in a 20-pin SO20 power package, which helps simplify circuit board layout and reduce power supply size.

The STEVAL-NRG011TV evaluation board is now available, and the STNRG011 chip is now in mass production.
